About the Role
The Brokerage Analyst & Trading Officer plays a critical role in supporting Chipper’s Brokerage Unit by delivering high-quality financial analysis, facilitating securities trading, and ensuring exceptional client experience. This role is responsible for sourcing, retaining, and growing a diverse client portfolio, while providing professional investment insights across equities and fixed-income markets.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capability with excellent client relationship skills and a deep understanding of capital markets.
What You’ll Do
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Provide tailored investment advice based on clients’ financial goals, risk appetite, and market conditions.
- Prepare and deliver investment proposals using advanced financial analysis and planning tools.
- Conduct regular client engagements—including visits and virtual meetings—to understand evolving financial needs.
- Manage, maintain, and grow a high-quality client book in both retail and corporate segments.
- Explain complex investment concepts in a clear, simple, and client-friendly manner.
- Consistently meet or exceed sales and client acquisition targets as per performance scorecard.

Analysis, Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual market intelligence reports, ensuring accuracy and actionable insights.
- Stay updated on market developments, product performance, regulatory changes, and emerging industry trends.
Trading & Execution Support
- Serve as backup trader for equities and fixed-income transactions, ensuring timely and compliant execution.
- Support brokerage operations by liaising with internal and external partners (exchanges, custodians, regulators).
- Ensure adherence to best practices in trade execution, risk control, and client communication.
Business Development
- Develop and implement strategies to build a sustainable and growing client portfolio.
- Participate in market activations, networking events, and corporate presentations to increase brand visibility and generate leads.
What We’re Looking For
Academic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- CISI Module I & II (mandatory). Additional certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Brokerage, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience in equities and fixed-income trading within Uganda and ideally across the region.
- Proven expertise in financial analysis, investment evaluation, and market research.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret and present data clearly.
- Solid understanding of capital markets products, trading platforms, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and market analysis tools.
Soft Skills
- Strong sales and prospecting capabilities; proven ability to build and retain client relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- High emotional intelligence, teamwork, and ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Networking and social selling skills.
Industry Background
Candidates with experience in:
- Capital Markets, Investment Banking & Brokerage or Wealth Management

Location:
This role is based in Uganda and follows a hybrid work arrangement. Candidates must be currently residing in Uganda and able to collaborate with both local and remote teams.
